Island Stone NZ is excited to offer customers the opportunity to have the very distinctive look of NZ Schist. Based on the same principle as other Island Stone products, we have developed and tested the technology and system to cut and lay NZ Schist as a lightweight cladding, greatly increasing the potential applications for this unique NZ stone.
With our Lightweight Cladding System (LSC), each piece of stone is individually cut and glued to the substrate. The result is a very light and flexible cladding system that uses as little as 25% of the stone required for a conventional schist installation. The advantages of this system are many, including the option of using schist cladding for both new builds and renovations.
Whether it’s a major exterior cladding project, such as the 3,000m2 laid Hilton Hotel in Queenstown in 2010, a feature fireplace, pillars or gateway, the options for having a true slice of New Zealand in your home or workplace are now many. The majority of our Schist is sourced from Central Otago in the South Island, but talk to us about the look you want to achieve and we’ll let you know what the options are.
